One of the greatest gifts God has given to us is our ability to dream and envision yet, many of us go through life abandoning our dreams and conforming to the pre-set standard of others. Why? Most times, it’s because we fail to understand the magnitude of the power God had embedded in our DNA and more importantly, our faith is not strong enough to pull us through.

This was not the case for Julie Husbands as she dared to embrace her dreams and unleashed her Kingdom Style Magazine in grand style on Saturday, January 27th, 2018. In a world where ungodliness is now seen as the norm, Julie’s magazine initiative which showcases God’s original design for us to live is a welcome relief. Her magazine focuses on living wholly not only with ourselves but also with others.

Upon my arrival at the launching party, I could immediately tell she’s a woman that pays attention to details. From the signing-in table to the seat arrangements and her choice of vendors, everything oozes excellence.

Prior to attending the launching party, I had seen a digital copy of the magazine on social media and wondered whether the real magazine would look as appealing as what I saw online. Can you guess what I immediately looked out for as I walked into the room? Yes! You guessed right. I walked straight to the table where a sample was displayed and I was blown away by how much excellence was put into producing such a masterpiece. From the first page to the middle page to the last page, her eye for detail was evident and I couldn’t resist asking for a slot in the next edition scheduled to be published in June 2018. You already know I’m attracted to excellence.

After flipping through the pages of the magazine, I decided to conduct a live interview with her during the event because I knew within me she was loaded with wisdom to have produced such a masterpiece. One of the questions I asked was “what three things would you advice your 21-year old self?”

Her response was:

  • Listen before you speak
  • Don’t be stubborn – you don’t know everything.
  • Believe in yourself.

Truly, Julie believes in all these and she’s incorporating them into her not-so-21-year old self.

For me, walking around the room, interacting with guests and listening to guests sharing their bits from this birthing process, here are the three lessons that stood out to me:

  • Until you move, nothing will move: The moment she took a step to birth her dreams, things began to fall into place for her. Yes, she had hiccups along the way, but because she took the step, God made provision for her.
  • The angel you need is right beside you: Many times, we don’t appreciate the people that God has placed in our sphere of influence. From the testimonies I heard people talk about, it was evident that the people we have around us are the angels that God has placed beside us to help us fulfill our purpose.
  • You are more than enough: This point echoes what Julie said about believing in yourself. If you don’t believe in yourself, you will not embrace your dreams, let alone unleash.

Truly, I am indeed blessed to be a part of Julie’s launch party and I am so thankful she was surrounded by those who want to see her excel. The importance of having the right people by one’s side when taking giant strides cannot be overemphasized. I am so happy for her and I wish her nothing but astounding success!
