Former Top American Banker, Dr. Remi Duyile Appointed as the First African Multicultural Commissioner in Prince George’s County, Maryland USA

On 23rd September 2019, former top American banker, Dr. Remi Duyile was appointed as the Multicultural Commissioner in Prince George’s County, Maryland, USA. She’s the first-ever African to hold the position.

Relocating to the United States over 30 years ago and overcoming so many hurdles to rise through the ranks in her career, Dr. Duyile has proved to the world yet again that with hard work, dedication and consistency, there’s no limitation to the height we can reach or the things we can achieve.

As the commissioner of Multicultural Affairs in Prince George’s County, she’s tasked with ensuring that the mission of the State’s Multicultural Commission is accomplished through her leadership. The mission of the State’s Attorney Multicultural Commission “is to support and advance State’s Attorney’s commitment to fostering a long-term partnership with community organizations that result in sustainable cultural programming, an environment where diverse communities are recognized, increase understanding and promote multiculturalism in Prince George’s County”

As commissioner, she’s allowed to serve for a term of two (2) years, with a maximum of three (3) full terms and the term runs concurrently with the term of the State’s Attorney.

Early Life

Dr. Remi Duyile was born and raised in a small town in Ondo State, Nigeria. There, she learned the tenets of discipline, hard work, commitment and staying true to oneself. With this strong foundation, she relocated from Nigeria to the United States with just one purpose: to shatter the glass ceilings. Did she fulfill that purpose? Yes, she fulfilled that purpose, is still fulfilling and will continue to fulfill it.

Education and Career

As an ardent believer in the power of education as the key to unlocking opportunities, Dr. Duyile enrolled at the University of the District of Columbia between 1982 and 1987 where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Masters’ of Business Administration in Finance and Business Economy.

She started her corporate career at the Bank of America (one of the largest financial institutions in the United States) where she rose from being a Teller to being appointed as the Vice President Retail, Premier, and Mortgage Banking. Notable during her career was working with and successfully managing the portfolios of over 600 high net worth clients for her employer.

After working for over 17 years, she decided it was time to embrace her dreams of becoming a serial entrepreneur and empowering others in her community

Entrepreneurship Journey

In fulfilling her desire of becoming a serial entrepreneur, she founded Premier Mortgage Solutions (a mortgage solutions business), Image Consulting Group (an international consulting firm), and Legacy Premier Foundation (a non-profit providing mentorship and financial literacy for women and girls. She’s also the founder of RemiSpeaks. RemiSpeaks is a Coaching, Speaking and Training Platform for Management, Emerging Leaders and Entrepreneurs in quest of sustainable growth with Global Relevance. Under the umbrella of her companies, she has become an empowerment mentor, community mobilizer, certified trainer, as well as an international key note speaker.

She has spoken throughout Africa, Europe, and extensively within North America (Canada and the US) teaching financial literacy, offering entrepreneurial development, and encouraging millennials to engage in the Diaspora, among other things.

In integrity with her commitment to inspiring others, in 2016 Dr. Duyile added the title of author to her ever-expanding list of accomplishments. Her book, Perseverance: Winning Key to Destiny was published in the US and is sold internationally.
