Nigerian Man, Abdul Oganla, 27, Set to Open a Subway Restaurant, One of the Fastest Growing Franchises in the World
Nigerians are known to be pacesetters all over the world and Abdul Oganla, a self-described learner, enthusiast and ideator, is about to make the list of Nigerian pacesetters a little longer!
This Friday, 18th October 2019, Oganla will open the doors of his new Subway restaurant franchise in the city of Niles, Illinois, the USA to the general public.
Subway is an American privately-held restaurant franchise that primarily sells submarine sandwiches (subs) and salads. It is one of the fastest-growing franchises in the world and, as of June 2017, had approximately 42,000 locations in more than 100 countries. More than half of the locations are in the United States. It also is the largest single-brand restaurant chain and the largest restaurant operator in the world.
Who is Abdul Oganla?
He is an indigene of Abeokuta Ogun State Nigeria and was a beneficiary of the Mtn Nigeria Football Scholar, a program that sponsors Nigerian youths to the United States on a 5-year scheme where they are also trained as professional footballers. In 2016, he graduated from the Knox College, Galesburg, Illinois and from there, he proceeded to the Foundation for International Education, a London-based non-profit educational organization, to learn about the culture of a business.
In the spirit of paying-it-forward, Oganla as the director at Africa-USA College Soccer Recruitment Tour (which recently secured over $500,000 in scholarship) is working hard to ensure that young student-athletes of African descent like him are discovered and nurtured. This move has earned him the attention of the Nigerian Government and he met with Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari while also attracting several investors in a short time.
Oganla is also the founder of Vertique a unique clothing brand that collaborates with artists to create artwork on T-shirts with the tagline “art you can wear.”
In addition, Oganla has shown interests in trade and commerce by taking the African Union Commissioner for Trade and Industry, Ambassador Albert Muchanga who is the brain behind African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AFCFTA) for a quick tour of Chicago and was also a speaker at the recently concluded Trade with Africa Business Summit in Chicago.
Ready to dine? Join Oganla this Friday at 8930 N. Greenwood Avenue Niles IL 60714 for a grand opening ceremony. Not only will you afford yourself the opportunity to eat at a discounted price, but you’ll get to network with the Mayor of Niles, Andrew Przybylo and other important dignitaries and be entered for a chance to win cool prizes like iPod. Here’s wishing Oganla all the best in his new business venture!
